Plastics

A plastic material is any of a wide range of synthetic or semi-synthetic item which are used in the manufacture of various types of products. Plastics have high molecular mass.. They contain other substances to improve performance and/or reduce costs. Monomers of plastic are either natural or synthetic organic compounds. The word plastics was originated from Greek meaning 'capable of being molded'.

The needs of packing are indefinite. For example if we take consumer products like all pet bottles, plastic jars, cases, companoies like Tupper Ware, they all use plastics but these plastics are not harmful as you all know we use these in our everyday life.

Plastics are classified are of 2 major types

  1. Thermoplastics and
  2. Thermosetting Plastics

The Thermoplastics are the ones which can be remoulded again and again to form different different shapes of your choice with the application of heat and pressure. Where as the thermosetting Plastics are the ones which once molded into a shape and settled, cannot be changed to different shapes again and again

Plastics can also be segregated into another form: Bio degreadble and non bio degradable.
